Melt the butter, In a mixing bowl beat the eggs wth the butter, sugar, vanilla, and milk. Stir in the flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Mix until combined. Place the dough on a floured surface and roll out to a thickness of 3 inches. Cut out with a 1 1/2-inch doughnuts cutter. Place the doughnuts in the hot oil, turning them once or twice. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with confectioner╒s sugar and serve hot.
